One of the ‘Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) Plc staff has been reportedly napped by the police and vigilante of the Okpara Water-side community in Delta state.
EthiopeMedia gathered that the culprit identified as ‘Segun’ and his cohorts allegedly attempted to vandalize the transformer cited at Onokobare-ovu community of Ethiope East local government Area, Delta State.
According to the source, said that Segun and his group of criminals whose residence at Okpara Waterside was at about 2am on Sunday 10th May 2021 attempted to vandalize a transformer belonging to the Onokobare community but were resisted by the local security but eventually sped off leaving a bag containing their tools.
However, the vigilante chairman of Okpara Waterside village Achovwiere Enavworu confirmed that the vigilante at the Onokobare village stormed their secretariat to report that Segun and other elements were alleged to have vandalized their electricity transformer.
”He said they escaped after a huge battle with the community vigilante but left a bag of their electricity tools suspected to be the owner suspected to be one of the criminals.”
”According to Achovwiere, he said a staff of BEDC a residence in that community identified to be Segun bags he normally uses for his work.”
Meanwhile, when Segun was brought before the vigilante of the said community; some of the vigilante members confirmed that Segun was amongst the criminals.
They further claimed they had a physical fight but escaped alongside others of his group who were armed.
The vigilantes also alleged that the criminals escape with a vehicle.
Furthermore, it was also gathered that the Segun denied the allegations before the vigilant and the police and at the time of filing this report, he was still under the police custody.
