Urhobo Gospel Singer, Jerry Ekpekurho, Kidnapped, Abductors Demand N15m Ransom

Popular Urhobo gospel singer, Evangelist Jerry Okpekurho has been reportedly been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Delta state.

EthiopeMedia learned that the famous indigenous singer and preacher was abducted by gunmen on his way to his farm on Tuesday 22nd December 2020 in Adeje village, Okpe Local Government of Delta State.

The abductors were said to have waylaid the Urhobo music legend and forcefully whisked him to an unknown destination.

Ekpekurho’s vehicle was left behind by the kidnappers along the road which spurred relations to suspect it was a case of abduction.

The abductors were said to have contacted the family of the musician demanding N50 million to free him.

The abductors were learned to have reduced the ransom to N15 million after much pleads from the family on Wednesday.

Several Urhobo musicians confirmed the abduction of their colleagues on Wednesday.

The Delta Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incident but could not give details of the incident.

But Police sources in Osubi and Orerokpe confirmed the incident, saying a rescue team has been launched to secure the release of the musician.
